Mobile Barber Shop

By Thoom Zech
Sunday, March 9th, 2014

Two independent film producers contacted us to build a video set of a “Pop-Up Barbershop” for their client, Intuit Software. Intuit wanted to showcase and demonstrate their new app “GoPayments”. Their concept was to build a mobile barbershop with actual hairdressers giving haircuts to customers and using the mobile payment option “GoPayments”.

Custom Creation took the concept, developed, built, installed and delivered this Mobile Pop-Up within two weeks of SXSW. We love building custom displays and providing services of all kinds.

We also fabricated and produced an eighth scale model of the CEV Capsule that was displayed over a stairwell at the Johnson Space Fight Center. Along with the models we produce 20-inch wide Three Dimensional Logos for their Constellation Program, one each of Altair, Ares, EVA and Orion.

Audio Visual Kiosks

By Thoom Zech
Tuesday, February 25th, 2014

This Museum Exhibit titled, Before Freedom: Texas Slave Narratives, Commissioned by the State Preservation Board and displayed at the Texas Capitol Visitors Center, featured a selection of interviews conducted with former Texas Slaves as part of a US government sponsored project in the 1930’s and 1940’s. These stories provided first-hand descriptions of slave life.

Custom Creation designed and produced four kiosks for the curved display wall and standing cabinet. Each finished in wood grain laminated plastic, to serve as audio-visual listening stations. We also provided on-site labor for installation of the kiosks and hanging graphics.

Combining our computer-drafted designs with a numerical controlled router allows fast turnaround of complex parts. It also means we can make identical pieces quickly. We can call up previous files and build more matching parts as needed.

Thank you and your staff for all the great work you have done for K-EYE during our set remodel. When news sets can cost up to $300,000, Custom Creation helped us create an entire new look for a fraction of that cost. Your guys did great work and I would recommend your company to anyone. I look forward to working with you again in the future.
