Our client was inspired by the Globe Theatre of London and wanted a similar theatre built on his property. We researched, designed and built this two story Curtain Theatre modeled after the Shakespearean theatre.
It has a separate stage and audience seating area. The image on the left shows an elevation view from the inside stage area looking towards the seating. The center image is from the ground level, in front of the stage, looking up into the “heavens”. The image on the right shows the exterior of the seating galleries.
Through the gallery openings, you can just see the roof that covers the stage. It can seat approximately 250 people. Several theatre groups in Austin have made good use of this theatre. The stage has a trap door for special effects and the “heavens” has a door for dramatic entrances and exits.
