By Thoom Zech
Saturday, March 15th, 2014

Custom Creation fabricated these two 32-in. diameter seals for the Office of the Senior Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin. The seals were used for their interior office space. We used a CNC Machine to cut the 2-in. thick foam, applied a limestone faux finish and detailed them with metallic gold lettering.

Saturday, March 15th, 2014

Working with another design house. We were contracted to design and fabricate a set of decorative birdhouse elements representing their clients’ logo to be displayed and used at trade shows. The birdhouse was custom fabricated with a locking door and a business card slot. They had to be fabricated in such a way as to ship flat and be reassembled at show sites by the client.

For this client, Custom Creation designed, fabricated, delivered and installed a representation of the Austin City Limit Skyline Backdrop at the Moody Theatre. The music venue backdrop consisted of flats fabricated with aluminum frames and supporting plywood sheeting.

The CNC Router was used to cut patterns for the scenic painters and cutouts for the LED lighting at our in-house fabrication shop. Using state-of-the-art computer design and machinery, we can build custom solutions for any venue.

Lobby Mural Display

By Thoom Zech
Friday, March 14th, 2014

The U.S. Army Corp. of Engineer wanted a Mural Display for their lobby in the Galveston, Texas office. They wanted a display that would tell the story of the Army Corp. of Engineers and The Great Storm of 1900 that resulted in creation of the Galveston Seawall.

Custom Creation designed, fabricated and installed this wall treatment that graphically depicts the history of the Galveston Seawall and how it came about. To help with the visual appeal, we applied a graphic mural the length of an entire wall measuring 11-ft. x 16-ft. Plexiglass acrylic panels with graphics were used to highlight the history of the seawall.

Interactive Science Activity Station

By Thoom Zech
Friday, March 14th, 2014

Working with another design house from out of state; Custom Creation was contracted to fabricate and install this Interactive Science Activity Station that was part of a larger exhibit called Science City at the San Antonio Children’s Museum.

This station within an exhibit challenged children to build structures on the peanut shaped tables with an assortment of connectable building blocks. The goal was to see if their structure could withstand an earthquake on a vibrating table, a tilt table, as well as the impact of a drop from a 6-ft tower.

Even though we have state-of-the-art design capabilities here at Custom Creation, we work well with other design houses to fabricate their ideas and put them into motion. Let us help you build your vision!

Dimensionally Stacked Logos

By Thoom Zech
Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

These three-foot tall signs show how cut letters or symbols can be stacked to create interesting dimensional signs. The client’s existing logo files were used to create the electronic files needed by our computerized router to cut the pieces. Several copies of the Orion logo were made for installation in buildings around the country. The pieces were individually painted to match specific colors and then attached by hand to the background.

Real craftsmanship combined with computerized repeatability makes for great looking logos. Want to see your logo hanging on the lobby wall? Give us a call.

Pop-Up Retail Rope Forest Event

By Thoom Zech
Monday, March 10th, 2014

Using our clients’ design concept Custom Creation produced several environmental elements for a Whole Foods event held at the Austin Music Hall. We fabricated, installed and dismantled a Rope Forest for this one-day event.

We recreated a forest-like environment throughout the Austin Music Hall space with slats of wood connected to each other and to the ceiling with ropes. These structures helped define the space, and directed people to key locations within the room from the entrance.

Custom 10×20 Booth Cutout Structure

By Thoom Zech
Monday, March 10th, 2014

This client wanted a Custom booth structure for a 10×20 exhibit space. They wanted a structure that tied in with a promotional vehicle they had used during the SXSW Interactive Fair.

Adding monitors to their back-wall cutout helped opened up their booth’s floor plan, giving them additional space for multiple demonstration areas. Attaching their corporate I.D. with 3d lettering to the railing at the top of the back-wall, at maximum height, provided more visibility for attendees to search them out.

SXSW Wi-Fi Pop-Up Bench

By Thoom Zech
Sunday, March 9th, 2014

There are many different types of Mobile Pop-Up Retails. For this project our client wanted us to design, build, and install a 4-ft long double-sided bench to house a Wi-Fi hotspot and six weather proof duplex outlets for the Home and Garden TV; to allow people to recharge their electronics during the SXSW Convention. Rope lights were built into the canopy and under the lip of the bench. These Wi-Fi mobile hotspots were stationed around downtown Austin during the SXSW Convention.
